Bessie started her career as a secondary school teacher in 1991, whilst studying part-time in order to obtain her registration as an Educational Psychologist. She did her internship at The School of Achievement (Remedial School)/ Prestasieskool, where she developed a passion for working with children with barriers to learning and barriers to assessment.
She has been in private practice in Kempton Park, since January 2000, and she specializes in assessments for children with ADHD, learning difficulties, and applications for assessment accommodations/concessions, as well as guidance to the parents of these learners. Bessie is a firm believer in the value of a multi-disciplinary team approach when dealing with learning difficulties. She also believes that the learning environment should be adapted to address the individual child’s needs.
